SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. – The Colorado Rockies were a middle-of-the-road team in 2016. Their record was under 500, but they look as though they will change that around come 2017 opening day.
The Rockies didn’t get rid of star outfielder Carlos Gonzalez last season, and now with the additions of outfielder/first baseman Ian Desmond and the new skipper, Bud Black, the Rockies appear to be a team on the rise.
During spring training, fans should be keeping a close eye on the Rockies’ young players. Players like Raimel Tapia, Jeff Hoffman and Brendan Rodgers should be watched closely, because they are the future of the Rockies. Also, this will be Black’s first time manning a dugout since he and the San Diego Padres parted ways in 2015.
The Rockies’ spring training will start Feb. 13 at Salt River Field at Talking Stick in the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community near Scottsdale.
