SURPRISE, Ariz.- The Texas Rangers are gearing up for the 2017 baseball season. Last year they won the American League West championship for the second season. Their record was 95-67. However, they fell short of gaining a title when the Toronto Blue Jays defeated them in the division series. This was their 2nd straight year losing to the Blue Jays.
Moving into spring training, the Rangers have their eye on the Cleveland Indians, Mike Napoli. They have picked up the 26th and 29th draft picks for the 2017 MLB draft when the Rockies signed, Ian Desmond. Outfielder Leody Taveras moved up from #101 to #55, and left handed pitcher Yohander Mendez stayed number #56 for the second straight year on MLB.com’s annual ranking of the top 100 prospects.
The Rangers Spring Training begins February 25.
