ANAHEIM, Calif. — With only days away from the start of spring training, the Angels are making moves both on and off the field. Due to a consistent lack of players because of injuries and a low budget, it has been difficult for the team to be on top of their game. However, things are looking up for the American League as they recently added three new players.
Their wholes in lineup have been filled by Cameron Maybin, Danny Espinosa, and Dustin Ackley.
The Angels traded with the Tigers to fill their gap in the left field with Maybin. The team is hopeful for more stability in the position. Although his injuries have cost Maybin some playing time, he was one of the leading tributes in the Detroit lineup.
Espinosa’s debut in the upcoming season from the Nationals has also sparked attention. Espinosa was welcomed to the team with a full-time second baseman position. It has been said that Espinosa and shortstop Andrelton Simmons will pair together to make one of the best double-play positions in the MLB. Hopefully they can live up to all the hype.
Ackley recently signed as an infielder after his last full season with the Yankees and Mariners. During his six-year career, he has played both infielder and outfielder, offering experience to the team. Ackley is rumored to play as a left-handed bat off the bench.
The Angels most recent recoveries will lead them to start the season of 2017 with more than just hope.
