SAN DIEGO- With a desperate shortage of talent in the pitching rotation, the Padres have signed league veteran Jered Weaver to a one-year, $3 million deal.
After spending his entire career with the Los Angeles Angels, Weaver will see his way down the interstate to join San Diego’s pitching staff this season.
While Weaver’s performance has steadily declined since the 2010 season, the move is being viewed as a possible bounce-back season for the pitcher nearing the end of his career.
As for the Padres, any help they can get in the pitching rotation will be beneficial.
While this move may mark the end of an era for Weaver, the Padres are hopeful he can be counted on as a reliable source of innings for a rotation lacking in talent.
