LAKELAND, Fla.– Veteran utility man Don Kelly has returned to the Tigers – just not as a player.
After retiring from baseball last week, the 37 year old rejoined the organization that drafted him in 2001, this time as a scout.
Kelly spent the last two seasons in Miami, playing for the Marlins, but he is best known for his 2009-2014 stint with the Tigers.
A true jack of all trades, Kelly played every position possible during his big-league career, even taking the mound as a pitcher. He is also the subject of the “They can’t stop Don Kelly” internet meme.
Beloved by Tiger fans for his personality, the Butler, Pennsylvania native is already with the team in Lakeland, dispelling his wisdom to the next generation of Tigers players.
