GLENDALE, Ariz. – Yoan Moncada, the No. 2 overall prospect in the MLB and Zack Collins, the No. 81 prospect, made their debut for the White Sox during Saturday’s 5-3 loss against the Los Angeles Dodgers at Camelback Ranch in Glendale, Arizona.
Moncada, a second baseman and Collins, a catcher, both entered the game in the fifth inning. Moncada grounded out to second before striking out looking in the ninth inning, and Collins grounded out before popping a blooper single into right-center.
“To be able to go out there on the first day was an honor to me,” Collins said. “A little jittery, but very excited to play. It was fun. I’m the new guy. It’s my first year, and the first game played and I get to play. It’s definitely an honor.”
Although it was only game one of spring training, the social media hype behind Moncada and Collins makes it clear White Sox fans are excited for what this young talent has to offer.
