At Saturday’s spring training game against the Los Angeles Dodgers, Renteria was ejected from the game after arguing home plate umpire Quinn Wolcott’s strike zone after starting pitcher Carson Fulmer appeared to be having a hard time finding it.

“It got a little out of hand, probably on my part,” Renteria said, according to a Chicago Tribune article.

After exchanging a series of words with each other, Wolcott made the decision to eject Renteria. Renteria returned to the team’s offices where he watched the rest of Chicago’s 13-7 loss to the Dodgers.

“I definitely have a manager who respects us all and has our backs, and it just tells you a lot about who we have pushing us in the direction we want to be going,” said Fulmer.
