GOODYEAR, Ariz.—In an ideal world, the Reds’ opening pitch would be thrown by Cincinnati native Darius Rucker. Rucker is experienced. In 2011 he threw the opening pitch for the Tampa Bay Rays, but his heart remained with the Reds. Back in 1995 Rucker and his band member Jim “Soni-Sonefeld” even scored free tickets to a Reds game. Ideally, after Rucker threw the opening pitch he would look into the crowd and see Sonefeld–who of course brought Mark Bryan and Dean Felber–and there’s an immediate Hootie & the Blowfish reunion and they perform for everyone and it’s beautiful. Make it happen Cincinnati.
