Like all baseball teams, the Minnesota Twins have thousands, if not millions, of fans. However, when determining which one of those individuals should throw out a ceremonial first pitch for the team, one person stands alone.
Jesse “The Mind” Ventura, the former professional wrestler and governor of Minnesota, is the perfect choice to receive the honor.
He is already an athlete, and with muscles like his, there is no doubt he could throw the ball the full distance from the pitcher’s mound to home plate. There would be no risk of a one-hop pitch.
Ventura also cuts an imposing figure, and he knows how to pump up crowds. Since the Twins have struggled in recent years, any opportunity to excite the fan base must be taken.
Finally, in a political climate like that of 2017, the sight of a popular political figure could garner the Twins goodwill in the community.
